BIRDJAM. MORNING. Listen to the dawn chorus. To the calls, whistles, trills, cackles, coos, chattering, twittering.
Omens are everywhere. Birds are everywhere. Love is somewhere.
Anxious to lift a corner on the veil of the future, we, as a species, are attracted to omens AND birds. Recounted from the days of the Romans an omen tell us a bird appearing at a person’s right side indicates fortune. A bird to the left… well, you guessed it… Not! Avoid it. At that time of year, April of the cruellest, you must cover your left ear.
It reminds me of a song: Clowns to the right of me, jokers to the left. Here I am stuck in the middle with you… O to be!
A bird flying to you is a benediction. Grab it before it flies away.
